The Iris Cardigan is a celebration of the magic origami of the granny hexagon. The Cardigan can be made with super chunky yarn, for maximum warmth in winter, or as a scrap-busting project with multiple strands of lighter yarn. Make it with cropped sleeves to wear  in the milder months, or extend the sleeves and add a belt to have a kimono-style wrap. The Iris Cardigan is a template on which you can add and alter to personalise it.

The Iris Cardigan is suitable for crochet advanced beginners who know their chain stitch, single crochet, double crochet, and who have made at least 2 or three projects and are familiar with reading patterns.

The Iris Cardigan Crochet Pattern does not have sizing charts, as the hexagon is the building block, and you simply make as many rounds as you need. But the pattern  explains in great detail how to adjust the top to fit your own body. I show you how to extend the width and length, create give, and make different sleeves.

Because there is no fixed sizing, you are freed from the tyranny of the gauge. Grab a basket of yarn, preferably in all textures. Then get a few hooks, and work a few stitches to see which hook gives you the structure or drape you want.

Other notions you will need are a tapestry needle and stitch markers.

Love the idea of using two granny hexagons but not into the cardigan? I have a similar pattern that helps you make a wrap top; check out the Bibi Wrap.
