These beautiful earrings are a celebration of the teardrop shape.
These abstract earrings were entirely handcrafted from polymer clay, which is a lightweight clay that can be cured in home ovens. Polymer clay is known for being flexible, durable, and lightweight. Indeed, one of the tests for whether the clay has been properly cured is to try to bend it. So these earrings can take some trashing and won't break when you drop them. Nonetheless, take care of them.
With polymer clay, one of the techniques is marbling, where different colours are just mixed together and rolled out and wound together, and then rolled out again. So the pattern that emerges is completely unexpected, unique, and irreproducible. With this batch of earrings, I mixed together shimmery pink, translucent pale blue, white, blue, and silver foil. And voila. Hold a pair up to the sun and the translucence of the clay will show.
Because of the nature of marbling, each pair of earrings are absolutely unique.
I also carve each pleat on these earrings by hand, so the earrings aren't perfectly symmetrical but so beautifully handmade.
These earrings are different from the other marbled polymer clay earrings I offer because I have experimented with texturing here. If you look at the close-up shots, you will see that there is a certain stone-like effect, an uneven porous look. This was painstakingly achieved by dabbing a tiny sponge very carefully so that some of the structure is transferred but without flattening the pleats I carved. The result: beautiful earrings.
But I've made it possible for you to choose the very pair you want: just choose from A, B, C, and D. Or the pure blue shimmery pair.
The material polymer clay gives these earrings their edge over the usual big earrings: these are incredibly light and comfortable to wear. Each earring weighs a mere 5.1g.
The earrings are mounted with nickel-free surgical stainless steel ear posts, which are considered hypoallergenic. I personally find big earrings with ear posts more comfortable to wear than the usual hooks. The ear posts are also mounted in an off-centre manner that makes the stud tilt at a 45 degree angle, to align with the natural line of your ear, towards your face. The three teardrop pendants thus hang in a staggered manner.
The earrings measure 8.5cm long, and about 4.5cm wide.

LIGHTWEIGHT — All my earrings are handcrafted from polymer clay, which is a lightweight and malleable material. So even if these earrings throw a real visual punch, they are very light and gentle on your ear lobes.
HYPOALLERGENIC — The ear posts or ear wires are made from surgical stainless steel, which is deemed hypoallergenic. But they might not be suitable for the very sensitive ears. I might have titanium ear wires and ear posts in stock, so do get in touch and I can change the parts for you for a slight surcharge.
CARING FOR YOUR EARRINGS — Store them in a clean and dry place, away from direct sunlight. As polymer clay is a polymer, it might interact with creams and perfumes. So be careful there. Avoid storing in places where the polymer clay can become scratched by coins, keys, or other metal-based jewellery. You can clean the earrings by brushing dust away with a soft-bristled brush, or wiping with a damp cloth. Do not use chemicals. Do not use nail polish.
