Winter is over, and now you have an entire basket of leftover yarn scraps. The Ursula Pullover is The Scrapbuster Project you were waiting for. This colourful, chunky pullover is crocheted top-down, and has no seams and sewing.

SKILL LEVEL -- If you know how to crochet a beanie, you know how to crochet in the round, and you have read a pattern, then this pattern is easy enough for you. You only need the double crochet, the front post double crochet, and the single crochet, as well as the single crochet through back loop, in order to make this project

SIZING -- Because it is designed as a scrap-busting project, it provides no standardised sizing, but shows you how to plan your pullover depending on the bulky yarns you have, and the hook you want to use. Your tension swatch will decide which size you should make.

YARNS and HOOKS -- The pullovers featured were made using bulky weight yarns using hooks that varied from 7mm to 9mm. The pattern is designed for Group 5, bulky  yarns. The hook you will need depends on your tension.

It provides lots of tips for all the personalisation you want for a handmade item: waistband and wristcuffs, balloon sleeves, the height of the turtleneck, accommodating a more bountiful bustline.

I learnt to crochet pullovers the hard way, through a lot of trial and error, and buying patterns that showed me how to make pullovers that fitted poorly like clothes off a rack. The Ursula Pullover is the fruit of all that experimentation: I really want to share with you how a pullover is made, and how alterations can be achieved. I am not giving you a fish for your hunger, I want to show you how to fish.

The Ursula Pullover Crochet Pattern:

- is 24 pages long and written in English and uses US American crochet terminology;

- shows you how to choose and adapt the crochet pattern for the type of yarn and size of hook you want to use;

- provides tips for how to personalise your own Ursula pullover, how to accommodate bountiful busts, preferences for higher or shorter mock turtlenecks, or make different types of wristcuffs;

- teaches you, through step-by-step photos, some not-so-basic skills like the invisible join, an alternative to the ch3 starting chain in most crochet projects; the foundation cord as an alternative to the foundation chain; and the single crochet through back loop ribbing.

- also provides an extra pattern that should fit XXL or which can be used for lighter yarns.
